Introduction
The glamourous and fashionable Kitzbuhel is located in the Austrian Alps in Tyrol around 88km southwest of Salzburg, 121km east of Innsbruck and 129km north of Munich in Germany. Kitzbuhel or lovely called “Kitz” is worldfamous for its breakneck "Hahnenkamm"-downhill race, the annual “International Hanenkamm race” held in January, heart stopping cable car rides and awesome summertime hiking possibilites.
Austria is known for its vibrant après ski scene playing Schlager (regional music). Best pleaces are "SCHIALM" on top of the mountain, the “MAIERLS” or "PUB FUENFERL" (down in the village). A must is the institution "ROSI AM SONNEBERG" at the Bichlalm - a great restaurant & hotel with great food and view over the town.
Best time to visit Kitzbuhel is in December - Easter for skiing and July & August for hiking.
