Portofino
PORTOFINO - BEST RESTAURANTS
Introduction
Portofino - the tiny former fishervillage ist the beauty-queen of the Italian Riviera in Liguria. Located at the end of an unspiled peninsula the town’s small harbour (space for not more than 7 yachts) has been designated as a historical landmark. The facades of the bulidings around the harbour are painted in rich colours like mustard, pink, ocher - unreal more like a museum.
The most famous restaurant around the harbour is "DA PUNY". For the best view head hillside to the former Benedictine-monastery which has been turned into a five star villa called “SPLENDIDO”. Having an aperitivo on the terrace overlooking the romantic bay is fabulous. Portofino is 38km / 23miles North of Genova and 171km / 106miles south of Milan.
Beauitful and more lively are the two villages next to Portofino: SANTA MARGERITHA or the village of RAPALLO.
In August - like in all Italian seaside destinations - Portofino is packed and the coastal road leading to the village as well as the “autosilo” (garage) are crowded. So avoid to visit Portofino in August!
