An all times favorite among Verona fish lovers citizens, this family run restaurant is one of the best and oldest in town. Known as “la tavola del bel vivere”, that means “the table of the high life”, prices reflect this statement, but it’s worth any euro spent.

Together with the freshly home baked bread, the menu features a choice of local dishes prepared mostly with sweet water fishes, mixed with seafood, such as the saor di sardella preparato all'antica (an ancient recipe with “sarda” a lake fish), "ravioli al baccalà con sugo di granseola e pinoli tostati" (pasta stuffed with dried fish topped with crab and pine nut sauce), "cartoccio di crostacei" (shellfishes),piatto della Serenissima: astice, capasanta e branzino leggermente affumicati con piccola salsa alle olive (lightly smoked lobster, scallops, sea bass with olives sauce).  If you just can’t get enough of music, after attending one of the Operas, just walk few steps in front of you and get into the “LE CANTINE DE L'ARENA"  to switch to some good relaxing live jazz. The restaurant is split in two, a Pizzeria on the ground level and a brasserie / steak house underground. In the underground venue, a vaulted dining area with soft lights and live cooking stations, you’ll have the chance to lay back to the jazz played by the excellent bands while gorging in to the most juicy steaks from the local farming and from all over the world. Try the “Picaña”, beef cooked the Brazilian traditional way, perfectly crispy on the outside and red juicy on the inside, served in a hot pot. The ground level venue is a Pizzeria that doesn’t offer live music, but features the best outdoor dining area right in front of the arena and a pizza based menu able to suit even the most sophisticated pizza connoisseurs.

 In most of northern Italy and especially in Veneto, the aperitivo (aperitif) is a tradition you have to honor.

Before the Opera Head to Piazza Erbe to join the local crowd in the many bars on the square for a “spritz” (wine mixed with any Italian mixer such as Campari) and some small munchies, but if you want the whole local experience, choose the Osteria le Veciete, in Via Pellicciai, a Piazza Erbe side street.
