SEOUL - BEST RESTAURANTS

Introduction
The vibrant metropolis of Seoul which was also known as “Wirye-seon”,  "Hanseong" or “Hanyang“ is the capital and largest city of South Korea located at the Han river and the eight mountains.

The “Joseon Dynasty” is the traditional heart of this ever-changing city. Seoul with over 10 millions habitans is one of the largest cities in the world. Seoul hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics and the Fifa World Cup in 2002.

The Olympic Stadium (or Chamshil Stadium) is a nice place to start the exploration of the city. There you'll find Lotte World, a shopping mall that contains an Olympic-sized skating rink and even a full amusement park on the upper floors. While Lotte is the most famous, it isn't the cheapest and there are plenty of other areas where one can go shopping - anywhere where people flocking to doors and greeted by uniformed females!

The miracle of Seoul lies in its contradictions and surprises between the modern (fashion-world, fastest internet in the world, modern cafes and skycrapers) and the traditional Korean culture (old palaces like  Kyungbok Palace, near City Hall and big square, Kyungbok Palace was main and official palace of Chosun Dynasty. Deoksugung, Palace of Shining Happiness or The Secret Garden in the Changdok Palace complex - probably the nicest of them all - Tonggunung tombs Chonsugongbang, Changkyong Palace, Pomun-sa Temple and the Toksugung Palace).

For a quiet afternoon head to one of the numerous gardens and parks. Insadong is the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon browsing small shops full of antiques or galleries.
Time for a footmassge? In Seoul you will find various “barefoot parks” - special walking paths made of various types of rocks, such as amber, gemstone, granite and gravel. Aside from providing relief from foot fatigue, these foot paths are said toimprove blood circulation and activate the functions of internal organs.

In a city where "galbi" (beef short rib) barbecue restaurants span multiple levels, it's difficult to decide which one is the best; but once you've tasted the "galbi" at this place, this may fast be one of your favorites (though it's not much in the atmosphere department); just like most other Korean places, they bring you the raw meat to cook on your table top grill, but here they provide real sutbul (wood charcoal) - a real treat as it adds a smoky flavor; one of the signature dishes is the "galbitang" (stewed beef ribs), but you'd better arrive early because they only make 40 orders of it per day; their "naengmyeon" (cold buckwheat noodles) and "dolsot bibimbap" (stone pot mixed rice) are also excellent; alternatives in the Gangnam-gu area: "AFTER THE RAIN" for high end Thai or "BAMBOO HOUSE" (+82 2 566 0870, www.bamboohouse.or.kr.) for top notch Korean business dining
