ZANZIBAR - BEST RESTAURANTS
Introduction
Zanzibar’s or the romantic „spice islands“ with lasting mystique has attracted travelers from around the world for centuries. The island is part of the United Republic of Tanzania and 35km off eastern coast of Tanzania. The main island is called “Unguja” and surrounded by smaller islands which are perfect for pleasant day trips departing from Stone Town. The capital of the island is Zanzibar City with its historic center Stone Town.
Walking through the narrow streets, crumbling houses and overhanging balconies of Stone Town flashbacks you in the Arabic times where Arabic traders built there homes and lucratively sold slaves from Arabia and Persia. Zanzibar was once the largest slave market on Africas east coast.
Nowadays the Swahili people lives mostly of tourism and spice tradings. Zanzibar offers great little restaurant like the Indian restaurant "SILK ROUTE" or the amazing seafood place "SELES BUNGALOWS".
Zanzibar is also famous for the annual "ZIFF Festival", the "Dhow Countries film festival" and the "Sauti za Busara Swahili Music Festival".
Best time to visit is between Dec-Mar and Jun-Oct.
