Tel Aviv
TEL AVIV - HIPPEST NIGHT CLUBS
Introduction
The White City or „Miami of the Middle East“; find your own Tel Aviv on a brief visit.
Tel Aviv is also a city of fascinating paradoxes: a single sex religious beach lies adjacent to a gay beach; on the Jewish holiday of Passover, there is virtually no bread to be found in the city, yet many restaurants serve rather un-kosher pork and seafood dishes.
Still the best quality of Tel Aviv may be the locals. While they can come off rowdy or downright arrogant -- in Yiddish it's called "chutzpah" -- Tel Avivians are also known for their candor and openness. Over the course of a simple chat, you could be asked how much you make in a year or if you are up for a trance party over the weekend.
At night, young, hip Tel Avivians invade the area of Namal for a night of dancing at countless clubs and bars, but in the morning the Namal is quiet and the perfect place to have breakfast while gazing out over the sea.
Cool clubs like „Galina“- which is an open-air hot-spot open from breakfast till sunrise or the upscale club „Sublet“ which is located in the Gaon building.
A few kilometers after the Namal is Banana Beach, named after its hip cafe, where you can stop for some sun and refreshments. On Friday afternoons amateur drummers gather for jam sessions.
Night Clubs
Party with the A-listers, the locals and hip crowd in every city.
Here the coolest and best Night Clubs:
Bubamara
A fairly newcomer to the city scene. A wig-wash space surrounded by wall images resembling apocalypic times. Wooden bar stools and tables for fun ladybirds and cool Joe's to get jiggy on. Old classics to electro.
Clara
A waterpark-cum-beach club at the end of the strip. Spongy sofa's and a tikki hut bar serving delicious frozen pleasures. Cool cats and tanned chickitas. Fridays pool party, Sundays mainstream, Mondays electro.
Galina
Open-air it-spot from breakfast till sunrise. Hanger 19 attracts the city's who's who. Loft-like indoors cemented in brick walling. Jingles vary. Tuesdays and Saturdays are sweet. Pick-up joint for sure!
Lehman Brothers
A bubbling scene for hard working nine-to-fiver's. Used to be called Enron. Elegant and sauve interiors. Girls with invested assets and banker dudes strapped with black cards. Hardcore doormen. What chapter 11 files next?
Penguin
A mythic slapstick within the Rothschild quarter. This new wave joint provides the best underground for late owls. Wednesdays are Dark Wave nights with 80's and goth classics. Bring on the lollipops!
Pink Elephant
Newbie on the buzzing Namal. Smallish spot almost entirely outdoors sporting an astroturf garden. Sexy PG 21'ers jam to light techno and Israeli rock. Special permits allow for decibel destruction.
Sublet
Breezy summer affair on the rooftop of the Gaon building. Wooden decking, cosy lamps and breathtaking sea views. Petty door policies keep loyal locals in and tourists out. Barmen sling mean cocktails. L'chlaim!
